Video research Lab Aalborg (VILA) warmly invites researchers from the humanities to an informal gathering on Big Video. The goal of the gathering is to introduce some of the different video technologies we have available in VILA, including advanced 360° stereoscopic cameras, action cameras, spy glasses, eye trackers, spatial audio microphones and Virtual Reality head-mounted displays. We will also demonstrate two software tools (SQUIVE and CAVA360VR) we have developed for working creatively with Big Video data. With these tools we envision new ways of working qualitatively with video data in the humanities, which we would like to present and discuss at the workshop, as well as gain your feedback and suggestions for new tools.
Besides getting an overview of these new technologies and tools, VILA would also like use this opportunity to expand the user group of VILA. In other words, we would like to invite colleagues working with or interested in video analysis to become users of VILA. As an affiliated user of VILA, you will have the opportunity to use our labs (eg. xLab) and our equipment (eg. GoPros, 360° cameras, camcorders, etc.), as well as draw upon our experience and expertise; moreover, you will have an opportunity to discuss your video-based research with fellow researchers in a friendly, supportive environment.
