This semester we will introduce a practical, hands-on tutorial slot before the data sesssion. The idea is to provide an informal forum for scholars and doctoral students to learn new techniques for, and the practical use of, software/hardware for data collection, transcription, analysis and presentation. The tutorials will either be moderated by one of us, or we will invite a guest speaker/discussant. We will also experiment with different ways of setting up and running a data session using, for example, personal headphones, VR googles, new types of wireless speaker systems, alternative video software playback and transcript presentation, etc. See our recent ROLSI blog post for more details about Big Video.
